Cells4Life collection kit
Umbilical Cord Blood can only be stored when we have received a signed collection and storage agreement and payment. It is a legal requirement that the stem cell storage agreement is signed by the parent(s) of the child. Please make sure that your midwife is aware of your wishes and that you have discussed your stem cell collection with them prior to your expected delivery date.

A Cells4Life Umbilical Cord Blood stem cell collection kit is usually sent by special delivery to your given address. Please note that in the case of emergency stem cell collection kit dispatches, we ask for the agreement to be signed and returned in the box with the cord blood.
All the necessary contents for collection of the umbilical cord blood, including pictorial instructions are contained within the sterile packaging inside the Cells4Life stem cell collection kit box.
Please remember to take the umbilical cord blood collection kit with you when you go into hospital. Please do not open the packaging until it is required for collection use.
The contents of the umbilical stem cell collection kit are:
- Cord blood collection bag (two of in case of malfunction or emergency)
- Gauze swabs
- PVP-iodine swabsticks
- Tube clamp
- Cord blood packaging

A separate maternal blood collection kit is also contained within the stem cell Kit packaging.
It is important that the maternal sample is taken and returned with the cord blood stem cell sample as the testing that is done is required by law to determine if there are any viral infectious agents present that could transfer across the placenta into the umbilical cord blood. This affects whether the collection sample can be used in future.
