Umbilical Cord Blood
Stem Cell Collection
and Storage.

Dear Healthcare Professional,

We would like to introduce you to the Cells4Life umbilical cord blood stem cell collection and storage service. We have designed this section of our website to provide healthcare professionals with some general information about Cells4Life and the service we provide.

You may have come across patients who enquire about umbilical cord blood stem cell storage and we hope that this information will give you a greater understanding of our company and the unique Cells4Life process of collection and storage. If you wish to discuss the topic of umbilical cord blood storage in further detail we can provide you with additional scientific and supportive material.

The cord blood stem cell information we provide to parents is designed to be factual and non-emotive. Our basic tenets are transparency and honesty – umbilical cord blood is a potential stem cell source, it is not the only one and it is not the only possibility of gaining a therapeutic stem cell resource.

Cells4Life has actively engaged in discussions with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists during their consultation phase for Opinion Paper 2 “Umbilical Cord Blood Banking”. We are aware of the ethical and moral issues surrounding this.

Our contract clearly states to the parents there may be times and circumstances when collection is not possible. We also provide a clear step by step guide to the process.

We have always supported both delayed cord blood clamping and ex utero collection. Collecting the blood after the child has been separated from the umbilical cord and when the placenta has been delivered minimises the disruption to the normal management of labour.

If you are due to collect umbilical cord blood soon, or are simply curious, we offer Cells4Life kit demonstration sessions. Each session lasts about 15 minutes and gives you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the collection equipment before you use it. These sessions have been effective at group meetings but can be arranged on a one to one basis.

We are able to provide you with a stock of information booklets if you would like to have them available to give to your patients.

If you would like to meet with us to find out more, please contact our customer support team to arrange a mutually convenient time. Should you have any feedback please contact us on health@cells4life.co.uk

Thank you for taking the time to review our information and we look forward to meeting with you soon.
