Why choose Cells4Life?
The First – Cells4Life was founded by doctors and scientists and was the first wholly owned UK based private cord blood storage facility.
Future proofing with whole cord blood storage – in line with leading stem cell storage companies worldwide, Cells4Life is the only UK company to provide whole umbilical cord blood storage rather than extracting just the stem cells. Through the storage of whole cord blood, we hope parents will be able to take advantage of all future umbilical cord blood developments that may take place in this rapidly developing and exciting field of medicine. There may be other factors in cord blood that play a vital role in future therapies.
Two separate storage locations – for security purposes, we operate a split storage service. Each cord blood sample is stored in 2 separate laboratories, one in Sussex and the other in Essex.
Single use courier - Cells4Life uses a specialist, single-use medical courier service which operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year. This allows us to offer cord blood sample processing within 12-24 hours (average 12.3 hours), a vital statistic to avoid any deterioration in the quality of samples for storage.
Viability testing – Cells4Life tests all cord blood storage samples upon arrival at our laboratory before freezing, ensuring that only samples containing a high percentage of viable (living) cells are cryopreserved for storage.
All maternal blood screening tests are included in our cord blood storage service charge and, unique to Cells4Life, all costs are fully refundable in the event of failure of cord blood collection or testing (bar the administration fee).
HTA accredited – Cells4Life is Human Tissue Authority (HTA) accredited. The Cells4Life cord blood storage service meets or exceeds all current Department of Health and accreditation standards. All parents receive support from our team of doctors and hospital specialists who provide the highest level of confidential support, advice and expertise in the process of cord blood storage. We offer all parents the opportunity to discuss the storage service with a medical doctor or hospital specialist.
